adventures as resident managers

We almost died last night. okay.... that's an exaggeration. We didn't "almost die" any more than we "almost die" every day by narrowly missing a freak accident, but we usually don't get to hear about how we missed it the next morning.

I got a call a few minutes ago (7am) from the mom upstairs saying that I needed to come up and have a chat with her 6 year old son. Sometime in the middle of the night last night, he got up and found some matches and went into the kitchen and started burning paper. At some point 3 year old sister was in on it, too. He says he tried to clean up the burn marks on the kitchen floor but they wouldn't scrub off. The burned paper was in the trashcan this morning (praise the Lord that alone didn't start a fire) and the mom didn't see the burn mark (lights were out) until after she had made coffee. Little boy knew he would be in trouble and was hiding under his covers. I got to go up there and pull him out of his covers and give him a stern talk and mediation session with his mother. A day in the life...

On a happier note, Aidan loves his computer just like mommy and daddy:
